LunaFest | 48 Hour Film Project | Collaborations

FESTIVALS:

Part of what makes Austin so vibrant are the various groups of film-lovers who make up our community. Reel Women is proud to be a part of a community of people working together, playing together and making films.

Since 1999 Reel Women has sponsored or presented a yearly film festival dedicated to the works of established and emerging local and international women filmmakers:

November 2004 - LUNAFEST: Films By ... For ... About Women
November 2003 - LUNAFEST: Films By ... For ... About Women
November 2002 - LUNAFEST: Films By ... For ... About Women
September 2001 - Reel Women Presents: Digital Divas
August 2000 - Reel Women Presents: Reel Women, Reel Stories: Documentaries by Women
August 1999 - Reel Women Presents: Women Make Movies

Proceeds of LUNAFEST, presented by ClifBar/LunaBar, benefited The Breast Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization that works to uncover and eliminate the preventable causes of breast cancer, particularly those in the environment and to support the development of safer, more effective methods of treatment.

Reel Women will be screening Real Women Have Curves for Morning Star Rising.

"Reel Women Presents: A Movie Hoot," held in May 2002 at Club de Ville, united the vibrant Austin music and film communities for an evening of "music from the movies" performed by local bands Fivehead, Tosca, Lowery 66 and singer-songwriters Jessica Shepherd and Dana Davis.

Reel Women provided women filmmakers and their films to Austin Community College for their "Reel Issues" series in March 2002.
