EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:

SHERRY MILLS assumed this position in 2001 after producing the "Digital Divas" Film Festival for the organization. She moved to Austin after many years in Los Angeles, where she served as Vice President of The Kushner-Locke Company (unfortunately now out of business), an independent film and television development, production and distribution company whose credits included Andre, Pinocchio, Denial, The Whole Wide World, Freeway, Ringmaster, Picking Up the Pieces, Susan’s Plan, The Last Time I Committed Suicide, But I'm A Cheerleader, Hell’s Kitchen, Girl, Swing, Robert Altman Presents "Gun", Sweating Bullets, Hearts of the West, Cracker, 1st & Ten andVlad, Prince of Darkness. Ms. Mills is very proud of a "Thank You" credit from Director Robert Altman on the film Cookie’s Fortune. She studied with award-winning writer Aram Saroyan (son of author/playwright/Pulitzer Prize winner William Saroyan) and was a principal in Luna/Mills Productions. Originally from Dallas, Ms. Mills received degrees in Theatre and Education and worked for PBS affiliate KERA-TV as a writer for the station's monthly magazine and as a pledge drive and auction hostess, among other public relations duties. In a break from her entertainment career, she worked in hotel management in Hawaii, Mexico, California and Texas, and until the program was eliminated, taught in the Travel/Hospitality Careers program at Capitol City Careers in Austin. Ms. Mills chose 2005 as the year to become technical, as well as creative, by taking a film production class and Final Cut Pro editing classes through Austin FilmWorks and from Diana Weynand. The result: Natalie at 5 O’clock, the short film she produced, wrote, directed and edited, was selected to screen at the 2006 South By Southwest and Dallas Video Festivals and is being submitted to other festivals. She is currently working on a documentary about The Grove Girls, twelve of her high school girlfriends who still meet regularly.
